Candidate FAQ

Answers to the questions campaigns ask most often, from review timelines to what Political Lens will and will not put on a candidate profile.

Does Political Lens endorse, rank, or rate candidates?

No. Political Lens does not endorse, oppose, rank, rate, or recommend any candidate, party, or political organization. Every candidate in a race is shown using the same fields and the same format.

How do I claim my profile?

Use the Claim Profile page and submit your verified contact information. Our editorial team reviews each claim and may follow up to confirm your identity (typically through an email or phone number listed on your official campaign site).

How long does review take?

Most claims and updates are reviewed within 2–5 business days. Close to an election, review may take longer due to volume; we prioritize claims in the order received.

What happens to information I submit?

Submitted bios, priorities, and questionnaire answers go through an editorial neutrality check before publishing. We may lightly edit for clarity and format consistency, but we will never change the substance of your position without contacting you.

Can I link to my donation page?

Yes. Donation links on your profile are labeled 'Donate on Official Campaign Site' and point directly to your campaign's own page. Political Lens does not process donations and does not take a cut.

Why is party affiliation hidden by default on voter-facing pages?

We want voters to read about your plans and qualifications before seeing party labels. A toggle lets voters turn party affiliation on if they choose. Party labels are stored and displayed exactly as filed with election authorities.

Can I see how Political Lens describes my office?

Yes. Each office has its own Office Explainer that lists what the role can and cannot directly control. You can review the explainer for your office and send corrections through the Contact page.

Can I add candidate testimonials, endorsements, or rankings to my profile?

No. We deliberately do not display endorsements, ratings, rankings, ideology scores, or 'best match' content on candidate profiles. This is what makes Political Lens neutral — and it applies equally to every candidate.

What if information about me is incorrect?

If your profile is unclaimed, claim it first so we can verify your identity. If you have already claimed it, use the campaign dashboard at /campaign to submit edits, or contact the editorial team through the Contact page.
